1 year long-stay visa (OA)

The Thai OA (long stay) visa is designed for people who wish to stay in Thailand for a long time, usually for more than a year, and who are over 50 years old. The OA visa is also called a “retirement visa” because it is often used by people looking to settle in Thailand for retirement.

Eligibility criteria for a Thai OA visa include:

  • Be aged 50 years or older.
  • No history judicial
  • To have available sufficient funds to support the stay in Thailand
  • Have a Health Insurance covering health care in Thailand

The Thai OA visa allows holders to travel freely in and out of the country during the visa validity period and to work or invest in local businesses under certain conditions.

Documents for Thai tourist visa OA

  • Passport valid for at least 18 months on the date of arrival in Thailand or on residence permit If applicable
  • ID photo in color less than 6 months old
  • Declaration form duly completed and signed
  • Criminal record extract less than 3 months old
  • Proof of address : nominative energy or telephone bill
  • Medical certificate less than 3 months old attesting not to be a carrier of one of these diseases: leprosy, tuberculosis, elephantiasis, drug addiction, syphilis (3rd stage)
  • A bank statement current account and/or savings account less than 30 days old, with a minimum balance of 24.000,00 € per traveler (Or 48.000,00 € for a joint account).
  • A travel health insurance covering at least 100,000 USD (or the equivalent in your currency) of medical treatment, necessarily including the concept of Covid-19, and covering the traveler for at least 1 year from your arrival date, even if you stay less a long time.
From the 2nd long-stay visa application, Thailand requires the deposit of 800,000 baths (21.882 €) as a guarantee with a Thai bank. This must provide a certificate of deposit and one bank book up to date.

Very long-stay visa 5 years (OX)

The Thai OX visa is designed for people who wish to settle in Thailand for retirement and who are over 50 years old.

Unlike the OA visa, the OX visa offers additional benefits such as extended stays in Thailand, a simplified application process and personalized assistance:

  • An initial stay of 5 years in Thailand, renewable for successive periods of 5 years.
  • Of the immigration privileges such as special queues, personalized assistance and waiver of visa renewal fees.
  • A personal identification card special, which allows access to additional benefits such as discounts on public transport costs and health services.

The Thai OX visa is an attractive option for retirees looking to settle in Thailand for an extended period and want additional immigration benefits.

Currently, it remains reserved for the following nationalities : Germany, Australia, Canada, Denmark, United States, Finland, France, Italy, Japan, Norway, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Sweden, Switzerland 

Documents for Thai tourist visa OX

  • Passport valid for at least 18 months on the date of arrival in Thailand of one of the authorized nationalities (see above)
  • ID photo in color less than 6 months old
  • Criminal record extract less than 3 months in the country of origin and residence
  • Medical certificate less than 3 months old attesting not to be a carrier of one of these diseases: leprosy, tuberculosis, elephantiasis, drug addiction, syphilis (3rd stage)
  • A bank statement current account and/or passbook account less than 30 days old, with a minimum balance of 3,000,000 baht (82.059 €) per traveller for at least 1 year Or A bank book a deposit with a Thai bank of at least 1,800,000 baths (49.235 €) and annual income of at least 1,200,000 baht (32.824 €).
  • A travel health insurance covering a minimum of 40,000 baths (1.094 €) on an outpatient basis or 400,000 baths on an inpatient basis (10.941 €)

The Thai government provides a website showing the recognized insurance companies to provide the correct insurance certificates depending on the visa requested.
