Visa: how to stay for several months in Thailand?

Thailand has completely digitalized its visa application process. Thus, it is now possible to acquire your e-visa online without any travel. Once validated, your file is taken by the Embassy concerned in your city of residence. However, the durations granted differ depending on the status of the applicant. Staying in Thailand for several months: the corresponding visas

To stay in this country for several months, there are several types that may interest you:

Tourism visa

If you get a e-Visa TR with multiple entries, you will have the possibility of residing for 60 days at each entry. It gives you the benefit of 3 entries maximum over a period of 6 months. So, you can accumulate a total of 180 days.

Business visa

Travelers over 50 who wish to settle for a long period in Thailand are entitled to another type. We will distinguish:

  • E-Visa O: single entry for a 90 day stay
  • E-Visa OA: multiple entries with duration of stay ofa year
  • E-Visa OX: multiple entries with permit which allows you to reside on Thai soil 5 years which are likely to be renewed. The traveler may be entitled to 5 additional years.

Other visa types

If you plan to volunteer or accompany a senior traveler who has an OA e-Visa, a future student or a Business visa holder, you will have the opportunity to enjoy 3 months on Thai soil with entry unique.

Is it possible to extend your Thailand e-visa?

For visitors who cannot apply for a visa which allows them to stay in the kingdom for a year or even 5 years since this advantage remains specific for those over 50, there is the possibility of extend your Thai visa.

Know that this is indeed possible but that it is a careful process that is done upon presentation of file. If the authorities concerned grant you an extension, you will benefit from a period starting from one month based on the visa you already have. However, you should know that your request may have a negative response. To begin visa extension procedures, you must be in major cities such as Bangkok and Phuket.
